The University of Cape Town’s (UCT) Lung Institute in partnership with Novartis and the Department of Health launched a ‘lab-in-a-cab’ mobile TB clinic on Monday, 19 April 2022.
The mobile clinic was developed by UCT academics to help find missing persons who may be living with TB. This community-based active case finding initiative aims to screen about 25 000 – 30 000 participants in the Klipfontein and Mitchells Plain districts with plans to roll it out to other areas in Cape Town later this year.
